So serious that I’m going to put on my “serious face”.

There we go. The tone is much graver now.

Actually, I really do have a serious thing to ask of you guys, and I’m hoping that each of you takes a second to read this through and think about it. 

As most of you know, I’m currently working on my book about Sherlock Holmes, 19th century periodicals, cultural history and liberal political economy. This has, for a while, been my only occupation, meaning that I have no income of my own.

Now a regular source of money that was helping us survive day to day has been taken away and we are … not doing well. At all. 

Now, I’m not asking for money. I have the ex-fundraiser’s abhorrence of ever asking for donations and frankly I don’t believe that I have any claim to deserving donations of any kind. 

However, I do have a favor to ask. As you probably know, I have an etsy shop where I sell jewelry that I’ve made and designed while working on my book. Now I think that most of the designs are pretty cool and I have things that people might like. But the shop is still new and mostly unknown.

So what I’m asking for, as awkwardly and embarassingly as possible, is if you guys could take a few minutes to promote my shop. 

Ways you can help:

1. Reblog this post. People who follow you might be interested in buying something or willing to promote the shop as well. 

2. “Like” the shop. Either through the confusing Facebook “like” process or through your etsy account. 

3. Delicious, Digg it and other link collection services, by collecting the shop it means that there are more people who might see it.

4. Buy something awesome. I have handmade jewelry for sale that is both gorgeous and durable and completely unique. There is something in all price ranges.

5. Order a custom item. See something you like but want in another color, or envision something that could be done using elements of things I’ve already made? Want the moon? I work hard with people on custom work, and can usually make your dreams happen for an affordable price.
